Intel, a Gold member of Dronecode, has released a new report on the Dronecode User Experience Studies series. The heuristic Ground Control Station Benchmark Study investigated 14 tools related to flight planning and monitoring (not just Ground Control Stations). The goal was to find positive and negative UI attributes that will give the community insights on gaps that need to be filled and best practices to extend.
This study follows the report http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/users-feedback-report-around-gcs-software-investigation on the Ground Control Station’s Usage survey results, released in September 2015, and is part of Intel’s growing contributions to the foundation, especially in improving both Ardupilot and QGroundControl. The improvements will ensure they are robust and can be used on an ever-increasing amount of drones with computing needs that require a more fully-featured OS such as Linux.
